CRISMAN posted by Mark Strobel on Saturday, December 4, 1999

I previously posted a note (see 7-Jul-98 below) regarding my maternal grandmother (Helen Amanda Crisman) being born in Lomax, NE on 2-Nov-1907. I understand that Lomax is no longer in existence. I have some information that indicates that Lomax may have been located about 4-1/2 miles southeast of Oconto in the southern part of the county. There apparently is a cemetery there known as Viola Cemetery which is also known as Lomax Cemetery. My Grandmothers father was a station master in Lomax for the railroad (reportedly Union Pacific). Apparently there was a mail stop or water stop at Lomax. The closest railroad to the Oconto area based on my current map is approximately 20 miles away. I understand that a railroad used to go through Oconto. Does anyone have information on Lomax or can anyone confirm that a railroad used to go through this area?
