Family originally from Hamilton County, Indiana. With the family in their move to Nebraska was a niece, Catherine "Kate" TETER. She married James R. CURRAH about 1888. They had four children, and at least one was born in Broken Bow, NE. I am just beginning the search for this family so any information would be most helpful.

LAVENDER posted by Tracey Winbigler on Thursday, March 20, 1997

Luke LAVENDER, I'm told by his grand-daughter Jessie, was the first probate judge in the Nebraska territory. He owned a brickyard where the Capitol building in Lincoln now stands. He emigrated from England; his wife's name was Julia A.; he's listed as a "farmer {or} rancher" in Custer Co., 1886; and he had two sons, Alford and Alvin Joseph LAVENDER. He died of the black fever on a river exploration. Towns Jessie mentioned: Broken Bow and Lincoln, NE and Pine Bluffs, WY. Luke's son Alford and his wife, Della Mae Nees, had three children: Joseph Alvin, b.18 Apr 1905, Jessie and George. I'd like to know Luke Lavender's parents' names; Julia A. Lavender's maiden name and/or parents' names, dates of birth and death for Luke and Julia, and from which section of England Luke emigrated. (I know: I'm asking a lot!) Thanks for reading and good luck on YOUR searches! Tracey Winbigler
