Barton – On Monday July 14th, 1879, Clara M. Barton aged 2 years and 8 months, infant daughter of Mrs. H. B. Barton, at her home in Ceresco, Saunders county, Neb.
     Clara was not only the idolized child of a fond and affectionate mother, but she was the pet and idol of the neighborhood in which she lived. All loved her for her bright, loving ways, so prominent in one so young. But she has gone from our midst to enjoy the beauties of a better world. Yes, she has gone to enjoy the society of him who said, in such loving, tender accents to sorrowing humanity, "Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." and we can but say.

Weep not for those whom the vail of the tomb
In life's happy morning hath hid from our eyes;
Our gayest and loveliest lost to us now.
Ere life's early lustre had time to grow pale;
And the garland of love was yet fresh on her brow,
Oh! then her moment, dear spirit, for flying
From this gloomy world when its bloom was unknown,
Ere sin threw its blight o'er the spirit's young bloom,
Or earth had profaned what was born for the skies.
