Early Thayer County Photos

Page 1

These photos were found in "Album of Thayer County, Nebraska", published by F.S. MICKEY, Hebron, Nebraska. It was possibly published around 1900. Patsy Scheer scanned in the photos for us.

Introduction to book:

"This album is intended to be the best possible substitute for an actual visit to the places herein shown. It does not profess to show all the good buildings in Thayer county, nor only the best. There are many other homes here as good as the average of those we have shown. Possibly, too, some that we have shown might be classed among the inferior ones. But they are taken from actual photographs and are, therefore true pictures. Forty years ago no white family had a home here. The land was possessed by Indians, buffalo, coyotes and prairie dogs. Today our county will compare favorably with any community in the east. Look at the pictures then come and see them."
