Mrs. Captain G.C. Vance

Captain G.C. Vance died suddenly thursday afternoon at the home of
her son, Geo. H., in this icty. She was 82 years old and her death
was occasioned by ailments due to her advanced age. Mrs. Vance was
known to nearly every person in this vicinity, having been one of
the early settlers of this and Gage counties. She was a highly
esteemed Christian lady, for whom every one has a good word. A
husband and six children, five girls and one boy, survive her. The
funeral will occur tomorrow.
Lois Vernada

Lois Vernada, four months old child of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Reynolds, residing at 821 Vine St., Fairbury, died at a hospital
in St. Joe., Mo., Sunday, 27, 1916, following and operation. The
child was buried in Fairbury, funeral services being held at the
residence of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Moredick, on Vine St.
Sarah Viette

Mrs. Sarah Viette, wife of Wm. Viette deceased, died at the home
of her stepson, Albert, near Thompson, Friday, June 21. Mrs.
Viette was 73 years of age. Since 1900 she had made her home in
Steele City until about three years ago when she moved with Albert
onto a farm west of Fairbury. She is survived by three sisters.
Mrs. Wm. Vorderstrasse

Mrs. Wm. Vorderstrasse passed away at her home seven miles north
of Jansen on Monday evening at 11:40. The deceased was the wife of
Wm. Vorderstrasse one of the early settlers of this locality. Mrs.
Vorderstrasse had been in poor health for more than a year and for
several months preceding her death has been helpless. At the time
of her death Mrs. Vorderstrasse was 72 years, 1 month and 16 days
of age. Funeral services conducted by Rev. A. Heckel will be held
at the Friedens Gemeinde Church north of Jansen this (Thursday)
afternoon and the remains laid to rest in the cemtery near that
church.
