LENA DAMERO DIES AT STERLING, RITES HERE

   Funeral held Monday afternoon at St John Lutheran Church. Burial at Phoenix.

   Lena Damero, 61, resident of Phoenix and Atkinson for more than half a century passed away Saturday, June 9 at the Martin Luther home at Sterling, Nebr, following an apopletic stroke. She had been living at the Martin Luther home the past 7 years.

   Funeral services were held Monday at St John’s Lutheran Church in Atkinson. Burial was in the Phoenix Cemetery by the side of her parents who were Holt County pioneers.

   Lena Damero was born Oct 20,1872 at East Troy, Wis. With her parents she came to Holt County in 1882 and settled at Phoenix, where they lived until 1900, when they moved to Atkinson. In 1904 Lena and her mother moved back to the homestead where they spent several years, returning to Atkinson to make their home about 1908.

   Her mother, father, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death several years ago. In 1927 she entered the Martin Luther home at Sterling, where she lived until her death.

   Surviving her and mourning her death are three brothers, Frank of Wanblee, SD; John and Harmon of Phoenix; one sister Mrs George Syfie of Phoenix, and a host of friends and other relatives.

   A baby was born to Mr and Mrs F H Naber, Friday, Aug 4. The infant passed away Saturday and funeral services were held at Naber home near Phoenix Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev Wm G Vahle, pastor of St John's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Phoenix Cemetery.

A little girl - living near Anncar died last Saturday and was buried in the Phoenix Cem, Monday afternoon.
