1885 Divisions of Cass County

When Cass County was first opened for settlement there was an immediate response. The area increased in population rapidly. A number of towns never went beyond the paper stage....Filing of papers. Other towns were rapidly formed and survived for several years. The ability to attract a rail line was the basis for survival of those towns.

In the year 1885 there were 12 Precincts of Cass County.

Precincts Post Offices
Salt Creek Greenwood
South Bend South Bend
Louisville Louisville
Eight Mile Grove Cedar Creek, *Concord
Plattsmouth Plattsmouth

*Towns that never prospered and eventually went away.

I think that we can accept the fact that all of the towns now existing in Cass county had a Post Office in this time period and there were other post offices mentioned at various times.
