ESTES, JENKS posted by Perry Jenks on Monday, September 21, 2009

Hi-- A member of my family joined the "Gold Rush", arriving at Ft. Childs on 27 May, 1849. He wrote a letter home from there, I think it was his last, he died of cholera soon after. It seems that Ft. Childs was later named Ft. Kearny. I am trying to find the burial site of William JENKS, he may be there or to the west, I don't think he made it to CA. His letter mentions "Joel" being sick. This is probably Joel ESTES, who could have died there too. Any info is greatly appreciated.

CRAWFORD posted by William Crawford on Tuesday, February 23, 2010

My Great-grandfather came over to America from Scotland with his brother, whom I don't know his name. They came to Buffalo County, NE to claim a homestead. This was in the 1890's ? They stayed the 5 years needed to claim the land and returned to scotland. The claim was in his brother's name. It was located near Amherst. My Grandfather was the only one to return to the claim in Nebraska. He brought a wife, Carrie Crawford? with him. She died in childbirth, 1901? Their son was William CRAWFORD Jr. I was told that when he was born no birth certificate was required. There seems to be no record of his birth. I do know that she is burried near amherst. The records say Mrs. William CRAWFORD. I am not even sure if her name was Carrie? he later married a Saddie from Ohio and had two more children, Randall and Laura. I do know that they were members of the Seventh-day Adventist church. They later left and moved to Colorado in the early 1920's. I have never been able to get any information on genealogy for Carrie or William CRAWFORD Sr.

BRANSTITER, BRUSCH, DAHLKE, EBY, FREELAND, GINDER, GRUHN, KING, PETTINGILL, SCHMIDT, SLEEPER, WILSON, ZABEL posted by Marcia Dahlke on Monday, July 26, 2010

Wilhelm DAHLKE married to Wilhelmina BRUSCH or we now believe her last name may have been ZABEL. Could have been at least 11 children: Anna, Charles, William Jr, Louise, John, Katrina, Bertha, Emma, Emilie, Herman, and Otto--these children were all born in the USA; however, we've also found info to lead to the possibility of 3 more daughters, born in Germany: Augusta, Marie, Alma. If anyone has any information on the first 3 from Germany or any of the 11 others, I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you, as we are stumped right now.
