COOK, MILLER, RING, WALKER, WARNER posted by Phil Anderson on Monday, February 12, 2001

I am researching the following who settled in Gibbon (mostly, I think) in the late 1800's: John Bradford RING b 1825, Wyoming Co. NY, d. 1912 Java, NY; m 6 Sept, 1848; Permilia P. WARNER, b.1826, Wales, NY, d. 1896, Gibbon NE buried Riverside Cen. , Gibbon NE
John B. RING was a Gibbon hardware dealer, and also Postmaster there for a few years. After Permilia's d., he remarried, then eventually returned to Western NY for his final years. Their children: Arthur F. RING b. abt 1850, NY
Charles A. RING, b. 1852, NY
George RING, b. abt 1854, NY
Susan M. RING, b. abt 1857, NY, m. 1883 Buffalo Co., NE, Darwin C WALKER, b. abt 1853, IN
Elsie Amelia RING, b. 1867, NY, d. 1939, MI, m. 1889, (either Kearney or Gibbon), NE, Theodore Anderson (T.A. or Theed) MILLER, b. 1864, IN, d. 12 Apr., 1942.
By the time of the Spanish-American War, T.A. appears to have removed to Hastings, NE where he raised the first NE unit to volunteer for that War- the Hastings Military Band (See the Adams Co. GenWeb site for confirmation)
Their children: Hazel Olive MILLER, b. 1891, Kearney, NE, d. 1958, Detroit, MI (Hazel is my Grandmother)
Burnice Gertrude MILLER, b. 1894 (maybe Kearney, but probably Hastings), NE, d. 1965, Detroit, MI.
Permilia's sister, Mary R. WARNER, b.1828, Wales, NY, m. 1853, Chicago, IL, Henry COOK, b. 1824, d. 1892, Gibbon, NE
Their children: all but the first 2 b. Clinton, WI
Hattie B. COOK, b. 1855, Marengo, IL
Frank H. COOK, b. 1856, Sycamore, IL
Daisie H. COOK, b. 1858
George F. COOK, b. 1860
Irva COOK, b. 1862
Fred S, COOK, b. 1865,
Ray R. COOK, b. 1868,
Atto. B. COOK, b. 1870,
May E. COOK, b. 1873
Have extensive history of WARNER but know almost nothing of RING or MILLER ancestors or whstever happened to COOK descendants.
Have copy of Gibbon Reporter of Apr. 16, 1942 with extensive obituary of T.A. MILLER, also his brother, George W. MILLER is found with mention of their mother in the WWI veterans pages on this website.
Any new information appreciated, and will share what I do have including photos of people and houses in (Gibbon?) with anyone interested.

HARRIS, MACLEOD posted by Judy Shone on Tuesday, February 13, 2001

HARRIS, Albion Hathaway, d. Jun 1896 'near Campbell, NE', 'buried near Kearney, NE'... I have been trying to locate confirming information regarding death/burial of Albion Hathaway HARRIS (MD) who reportedly died June 17, 1896, 'near Campbell, Nebraska'. Supposedly he died from 'TB'. I see Campbell in Franklin County on the map, near a county line. Family tradition says he is 'buried near Kearney, NE.' (My 'guess' 'buried near town of Kearney,Buffalo County, seems more likely than saying he was 'buried near Kearney County'??) He was a travelling physician and evidently was on his way to/from patient(s). We are uncertain if his residence was Nebraska or Kansas at the time of his death. Albion was born April 1847 in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. He was married (1881-Dodge City, KS) to Anna Gertrude MacLEOD.

MUSHRUSH posted by Karl Dennis on Wednesday, February 28, 2001

MUSHRUSH in Buffalo County I found an index on line that listed Benjamin L. MUSHRUSH as a land patent holder, book and page G-152, Legal description NW1/4 12-10-17. I don't know what year this would have been? I would like to find out if Benjamin or any of his family remained in the County. Any MUSHRUSH info appreciated.
